Why we built Effistar instead of buying a global CRM

When we started, we did what everyone does: we subscribed to a well-known global CRM. We localised the interface, trained the team, configured the pipeline. Months later we discovered half of our real work was happening outside the system.

Where the work actually happened

Follow-up lived on reps' WhatsApp. Tenders lived in a spreadsheet three people opened. RFP documents sat in a folder on someone's desktop. Customer email sat in an inbox only its owner could see, so when the rep travelled, the deal stopped.

The system wasn't bad. It was built for a different market: one where follow-up happens by email, where there is no government platform publishing tenders, and where a large deal doesn't pass through a bid bond, an RFP booklet and a bid-opening committee.

The gap isn't linguistic

Many assume "Arabic localisation" solves this. It doesn't. You can translate every button and the gap remains, because it is a gap in the business model, not in the text:

  • A global CRM doesn't understand that a government tender is an entity above the deal: with its own documents, technical team, deadlines and a bid decision requiring approvals.
  • It doesn't know a WhatsApp message is part of the customer record, not a private chat.
  • And it doesn't assume half the team works in Arabic and half in English inside the same organization.

What we built instead

We built a system that starts from those facts: a radar that reads published tenders and judges their fit for your business, WhatsApp and email inboxes inside the system that the team can see, an assistant that reads your product knowledge before opining on a deal, and tenant isolation we audit on ourselves and document.

The rule we held to: we don't add a feature because it looks good in a deck, we add it because its absence cost us a deal.

And who is it not for?

If you sell entirely through an online store with no reps, or never deal with the public sector, plenty of cheaper and simpler systems will serve you. We built this for people selling to organizations and government entities in Saudi Arabia, and that isn't every company.
